Cashiers Farmers Market
Tom and Robin Crawford of the Cashiers Farmers Market have been in Cashiers long enough to be considered "locals", and as such, they understand the significance of delivering excellent service to their customers. Equally important to them is to offer the highest quality produce that they are able to acquire. "We are on the road daily to provide our customers with the freshest produce possible...even if I have to drive to Florida when it's cold," Tom says.

They also strive to provide personal service to meet the needs of their customers by trying to fulfill special requests. Apparently this is a formula that has been working for them. They opened their first produce stand at the Exxon in Cashiers in 1995. Then in 1997, they moved to their current location near the crossroads on Highway 64, across from the United Community Bank.
Tom is originally from Pennsylvania and Robin from Clermont, Florida. They were familiar with the Cashiers area because Robin came here as a child for summer camp. What started out as a way fo Tom, Robin and Biscuit the pig to spend more time in Cashiers while still earning a living has now become a true Family business. Now all the children, as well as Mom and Dad, find themselves entwined in the daily operation of the store.

When asked why they chose to sell produce, Robin explained that she and Tom were previously in the Citrus business. This "got their foot in the door," so to speak. It was apparently the right choice to make as they are currently in their 11th season. Tom reiterates, "The reasons for our success are the quality of our produce and our level of customer service."
Just as with produce, Tom and Robin are only here seasonally. They come up from Florida around Easter and stay through Thanksgiving, offering wreathes, garlands, and Christmas trees for the upcoming Holiday season. After Thanksgiving, they are off to Florida again with a load of Christmas trees to sell to the Florida folks (palm trees are hard to decorate). Once the trees are gone, it is then time for them to take a long-needed break before they start planning for the next produce season. Cashiers Farmers Market is a must see when you are in the Cashiers, North Carolina area.
